This article is compiled from the Warrensburg Police Department crime reports.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: The Warrensburg Police Department issues their reports to the press once weekly. These reports are for every incident submitted from June 17th through June 24th, 2024. The reports were submitted to KSIS on July 12th, 2024.


 

On 6/17/2024 at approximately 02:18 hours, Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at 1205 S Holden Street. A male and female suspect were involved in a physical altercation. The male subject was the primary aggressor and was arrested. Isidro Francisco Tomas, 27 was arrested on charges of Driving Without a Valid License and Domestic Assault. Tomas was transported to the Police Department. Tomas was booked then transported to his residence.


On 6/17/2024 at approximately 06:12 hours, Matthew Cannon reported unknown subjects stole his vehicle sometime between the hours of 17:00 on 6/14/2023 and 06:12 hours on 6/17/2024 from the 200 block of East Culton Street. On 06/17/2024 at approximately 11:11 hours Cannon advised he discovered his vehicle had been towed by Tip Top Towing from the private property of Auto Zone on 06/15/24.


On 6/17/2024 at 08:44 hours, Noah Bowling reported unknown subjects egged his vehicle in the 800 block of Prairie Hill Drive sometime between 17:00 hours on 6/16/2024 and 07:30 hours on 6/17/2024, causing paint damage. There are no suspects at this time.


On 6/17/2024 at approximately 17:50 hours, John Davidson reported being bitten on the leg by one of two dogs that broke their leash from the 1300 block of Sandra Avenue and rushed him while walking his dog. The attack happened earlier that morning. Davidson did not want to press charges. The dog's owner, Jeremy Hibbs, was issued a warning.


6/17/2024 at 17:46 hours, Jason Ontiveros reported a female subject known to him in the 700 block of West Holden Street consumed several prescription pills and was found unresponsive in the shower. The female subject was transported by JCAD to WMMC for treatment.


On 6/17/2024 at 19:45 hours, Brandon Phelps reported an unknown male subject stole several items out of his truck while parked in the 1200 block of South Maguire St. Derrick Wayne Roar, 43, was located near the 1100 block of S Mitchell St. and arrested for Stealing from a Motor Vehicle, Trespassing of a Motor Vehicle and Obstruction by Failure to Obey an Officer. Roar was transported to the Police Department, booked and released pending state charges.


On 6/18/2024 at approximately 00:53 hours, while in Casey's (303 N. Maguire St.), an employee advised an Officer that an unknown male subject had just stolen a case of soda and left without paying. Video surveillance has not yet been obtained and no suspects have been identified.
On 6/18/2024 at 07:50 hours, HyVee store manager, Deborah Austin, reported a known male subject stole items and left without paying, at 06:46 hours. The male subject was trespassed from the business, but HyVee did not wish to press charges.


6/18/2024 at 09:28 hours, Officers observed random property items piled up on the shoulder of the street in the 700 Block of North Maguire St. Officers removed the property from the roadway as it was blocking the shoulder from public use.


On 6/18/2024 at approximately 19:50 hours, Ixchel Landeros reported a male subject known to her struck her face in the 1200 block of South Holden Street, then left the scene. On 6/19/2024 at approximately 18:00 hours, Knob Noster Police Department reported having the male subject in custody. An Officer responded to the Knob Noster Police Department, arrested Isidro Francisco Tomas, 27, was arrested for Domestic assault and Endangering the welfare of a child, then transported him to the Johnson Co Jail.
On 6/19/2024 at 11:17 hours, James Reser reported an unknown subject broke into his parked truck in the 1100 block of Anderson Street sometime between 13:00 hours on 6/18/2024 and 10:30 hours on 6/19/2024, stole change and damaged the ignition. There is no suspect information at this time.


On 6/19/2024 at approximately 09:20 hours, Walmart Asset Protection staff, David Candito, provided Officers with multiple shoplifting reports and evidence regarding the same suspects, a known female subject and an unknown male subject. Jean Marie Harbison, 68, and Gene Lee Morrison, 42, were later located, arrested for Shoplifting. Both Harbison and Morrison were transported to the Police Department, then booked and released from custody.

On 6/19/2024 at 14:50 hours, Officers were dispatched to 502-2 McGoodwin St. for a disturbance in progress between a known male and a known female subject. A primary aggressor could not be determined and neither subject wished to press charges.


On 6/19/2024 at 18:17 hours, Corwin Rogers reported being struck in the head and face multiple times by a known male subject, knocking Rogers to the ground in the 100 block of West Pine Street. Rogers then struck the male subject with his cane. The male subject was later located, arrested for Assault and Property Damage and transported to the Police Department. Derrick Wayne Roar, 43, was then booked and released from custody.


On 6/19/2024 at 19:04 hours, Officers were dispatched to 1119 Anderson St. for a report of a domestic disturbance in progress between multiple subjects. Jeffrey Wayne Gariepy, 32, was arrested for Domestic Assault and Unlawful Use of a Weapon, then transported to WMMC for evaluation and treatment. With fit for confinement approval, Gariepy was then transported to the Johnson Co Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold.


On 6/19/2024 at 19:56 hours, Mya Wofford reported unknown subjects scratched the passenger side of her parked vehicle sometime between 20:00 hours on 6/18/2024 and 18:00 hours on 6/19/2024. Wofford did not wish to pursue charges, only document the event.


On 6/19/2024 at 19:56 hours, Davionette Minard (615 W. Clark St.), reported person(s) unknown damaged her parked vehicle at approximately 00:56 hours on 6/19/2024. The damage is chipped paint and scratches to the rear bumper.


On 6/20/2024 at 00:03 hours, Casey's employee, Jonathan Burge (303 N.Maguire St.), reported two unknown juvenile males stole alcohol without paying and left the store in a red vehicle. At 00:50 hours, a female subject called Officers and explained she realized the two male subjects she gave a ride to had stolen from Casey's and she wanted to report she had no involvement. A male juvenile was later located and arrested for visible
Intoxication and Stealing.


On 6/20/2024 at approximately 00:10 hours, Autumn Denham (605 W. Clark St.), reported other individuals witnessed unknown subjects enter Erin Cohen's vehicle. Cohen reported her minivan was gone through and her wallet was stolen. Investigation continues.


On 6/20/2024 at 00:36 hours, Joseph Thibeault reported unknown subjects entered his vehicle while parked at Casey's (303 N. Maguire St.) sometime between 00:20 and 00:35 hours and stole his phone, keys and wallet. On 6/29/2024 at 19:57 hours, Thibeault reported his phone was returned the next day by a friend and he did not want to pursue charges.


On 6/19/2024 at approximately 09:20 hours, Walmart Asset Protection staff, David Candito, provided multiple shoplifting reports regarding the same known female and unknown male subjects, who stole multiple items on 5/4/2024 at approximately 12:38 hours. The male and female subjects were later located and arrested. Gene Lee Morrison, 42, and Jean Marie Harbison, 68, were arrested for Shoplifting, transported to
the Police Department, then booked and released.


On 6/20/2024 at approximately 10:43 hours, Walmart Asset Protection staff, Shelbie Stafford, reported a known male and known female subject stole $115.35 worth of merchandise on 6/9/2024 at approximately 18:00 hours and left the store without paying. On 6/23/2024 at approximately 19:58 hours, Stafford reported having both subjects in custody at Walmart. Heather Devon Winesburg, 44, was arrested for three counts of Shoplifting then transported to the Police Department, booked, trespassed from Walmart, and released.


On 6/20/2024 at approximately 10:16 hours, Probation & Parole (505-D N. Ridgeview Dr.), requested agency assistance with a wanted male subject. Scott M. Large, 54 was arrested for multiple warrants from Jackson County, Lees Summit, and Cass County, then transported to the Johnson County Jail. The warrants carried charges of Driving While Revoked (Felony), Stealing, Property Damage, and Trespassing.


On 6/20/2024 at approximately 15:11 hours, Harley Foster reported being assaulted while at the First Christian Church (101 E. Gay St.), by a known male subject. Foster said the known male subject struck the side of his head with his fist. Foster declined to press charges.


On 6/20/2024 at approximately 23:30 hours, Pamela Zysk, reported unknown subjects entered her vehicle and stole items, at approximately 23:30 hours on 6/19/2024 in the 600 block of Burkarth Road. No suspect information is available.


On 6/20/2024 at approximately 14:41 hours, Lillian Satterfield reported four unknown male subjects stole property from her parked vehicle, in the 600 block of Burkarth Road. They then left in a black Jeep, at approximately 23:30 hours on 6/19/2024.


On 6/19/2024 at approximately 09:30 hours, Walmart Asset Protection staff, Shelbie Stafford, reported a known female subject stole $27.19 worth of merchandise on 6/1/2024 at approximately 16:14 hours and left the store without paying. On 6/23/2024 at 16:36 hours, Stafford reported having two subjects in her office detained for shoplifting. Both Jean Marie Harbison, 68, and Gene Lee Morrison, 42, were arrested for Shoplifting, transported to the Police Dept., and then booked on five separate counts of shoplifting, before being released.


On 6/19/2024 at approximately 09:30 hours, Walmart Asset Protection staff, Shelbie Stafford reported a known female and unknown male stole $58.14 worth of merchandise on 5/25/2024 at approximately 12:09 hours and left without paying. Both Jean Marie Harbison, 68, and Gene Lee Morrison, 42, were arrested for Shoplifting, transported to the Police Department, booked, then released.


On 6/20/2024 at 18:48 hours, a known male subject (400 block of Jefferson St.), reported accidentally discharging his firearm while cleaning it, and the bullet struck his finger. The male subject drove himself to WMMC for treatment and was released.


On 6/20/2024 at approximately 22:35 hours, Casey's employees (602 E. Young St.), reported a physical fight between two male subjects. One male subject struck the other male subject in the face with a closed fist. The victim refused to cooperate or press charges. The aggressor was trespassed from Casey's.


On 6/20/2024 at approximately 22:57 hours, Nicholas Brown reported a white Mazda sedan, driven by an unknown male driver, crashed into the back of his vehicle, while in the Taco Bell drive-thru (701 N. Maguire St.), then left the scene. An attempt to retrieve surveillance video is ongoing.


6/21/2024 at approximately 01:46 hours, Shirley Fritz reported a male subject known to her was having a mental crisis while at Murphy USA (301 E. Cooper Blvd.). The male subject was making suicidal and homicidal threats and volunteered to be transported to WMMC for evaluation and care.


On 6/21/2024 at 10:03 hours, Compass Health employee, Tabitha Scarbrough (616 Burkharth Rd.), reported a known male subject was being verbally aggressive toward her in the main office. On 6/25/2024 at approximately 11:10 hours, Scharbrough reported the male subject had returned and requested he be trespassed. The male subject was arrested for disturbing the peace, cited, trespassed from the property, and released.


On 6/21/2024 at 12:32 hours, Officers contacted a male and female subject who were found to be trespassing after being asked to leave City of Warrensburg property several times during the last two months. Shawn Dale Stevenson, 53, and Stacey Ann Walton, 56, were arrested for Trespassing. Both were issued summonses for trespassing and released on scene.


On 6/21/2024 at 22:15 hours, Central Dispatch reported a 911 hang up in the 600 block of Burkarth Rd. A known male and female subject shoved each other. Then the male subject, the primary aggressor, left the area before Officers arrived. Officers have been unable to make contact with the male subject.


On 6/22/2024 at 12:06 hours, Walmart Asset Protection staff, Ryan Jones, reported detaining a known male subject who attempted to skip-scan items at the self-checkout. Ronald Kyle Carmichael, 57, was arrested for Shoplifting, transported to the Police Department, and then booked and released with a summons.


On 6/22/2024 at approximately 18:44 hours, Rebecca Shumate, reported a known female subject broke into their house in the 100 block of Grant Drive while they were gone. Attempts to contact the female subject were unsuccessful. The female subject was mailed summonses for obstruction and trespassing.


On 6/22/2024 at 23:11 hours, Elisha Willhite reported a known male subject causing a disturbance in the 400 block of Benjamin Drive. Chok V. Filipus, 27, was arrested for Peace Disturbance. He was then transported to the Police Department to be booked and released to a family member.


6/23/2024 at 00:36 hours, Tyler Minard (615-B4 W. Clark St.), reported a known female subject assaulted him. Witness statements did not corroborate Minard's claim, so no arrest was made. A report will be forwarded to the City Prosecutor to review for charges.


On 6/23/2024 at 10:42 hours, Tifany Sarver (507-B Grover St.), reported a known female subject pushed her to the ground. The female subject's story differed from Sarver's. No arrests were made.


On 6/23/2024 at approximately 09:40 hours, Walmart Asset Protection staff, Shelbie Stafford (301 E. Cooper Blvd.), reported a known male and female subject stole $115.35 worth of merchandise on 6/16/2024 at approximately 2010 hours and left the store. Ryan Michael Barnes, 44, and Heather Devon Winesburg, 44, were later located, arrested for Shoplifting.


On 6/23/2024 at approximately 13:35 hours, Brittany Appelton, reported witnessing a known male subject punch Michael Versch in the face. Nathaniel D. Meyers, 24, was later located, arrested on two counts of Assault, then booked and released.


On 6/23/2024 at approximately 14:35 hours, David Winters, reported unknown subjects stole a security camera from his residence in the 300 block of East Franklin Street sometime between 6/21 and 6/23/2024. No suspect information is available.


On 6/23/2024 at approximately 16:08 hours, Walmart Asset Protection staff, Ryan Jones and Shelbie Stafford (301 E. Cooper Blvd.), reported having a known male and female subject in custody for shoplifting by failing to scan multiple items. Gene Lee Morrison, 42, and Jean Marie Harbison, 68, were arrested for Shoplifting, transported to the Police Dept., then booked and released.


On 6/23/2024 at approximately 16:00 hours, Officers were dispatched to Walmart, for a disturbance in progress report made by an unknown caller. A male and female subject were trespassed from the Walmart property. A female subject was later located, arrested, and issued summons for public affray. A second female subject could not be located and a public affray summons was mailed to her.


On 6/23/2024 at approximately 19:07 hours, Joseph Thibeault reported being assaulted while at the 300 block of W. Market St. Thibeault reported a known male subject hit him in the face twice and left on foot. Thibeault did not wish to press charges.


On 6/23/2024 at 19:19 hours, an unknown caller reported a traffic crash at 405 N. Mitchell Street. Witnesses reported the female driver hit multiple mailboxes in the 400 block of E. Mill Street, then struck an electrical pole. A child was taken to WMMC for a small cut on his face. Judy K. Tatum, 28 refused medical treatment and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Child Endangerment in the 1st Degree. Tatum was then transported to the Police Department, booked, then transported to the Johnson County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold. The child was treated and released to his father's care.


On 6/23/2024 at approximately 19:55 hours, Walmart Asset Protection staff, Shelbie Stafford (301 E. Cooper Blvd.), reported having a known male and female subject in custody for multiple shoplifting incidents. Ryan M. Barnes, 46 was arrested on two counts of shoplifting and Heather Devon Winesburg, 44, was arrested on three counts of Shoplifting.


On 6/19/2024 at approximately 09:20 hours, Walmart Asset Protection staff, David Candito (301 E. Cooper Blvd.), provided Officers with multiple shoplifting reports regarding the same known male and female subject. Because neither subject could be located, a shoplifting summons was mailed to each subject.
