Arkansas Pilot Killed in Ultralight Plane Crash
According to a facebook post by Pettis County Sheriff Brad Anders, an Arkansas man was killed when his Ultralight aircraft went down near a pond in the front yard of a residence in the 10000 block of State Highway B (northeast of Windsor) Saturday evening.
The call came in at 6:01 p.m., and Pettis County Deputies, along with MSHP, Pettis County Fire, Windsor Fire, Henry County Deputies, and PCAD responded.
Bystanders had removed the pilot from the plane prior to first responders’ arrival and began CPR in an attempt to revive the 73 year-old male from Springdale, Arkansas.
Efforts continued to revive the pilot for a lengthy period of time until all efforts ceased and the pilot was declared deceased. According to the post, the man’s spouse was nearby. Contact was made with the spouse and immediate family members about the incident.
Missouri State Highway Patrol took the initial report and the FAA and NTSB are now investigating the crash.
"Our deepest condolences go out to the family. A special thank you to all bystanders who jumped into action to try and save the life of another," Sheriff Anders said in his post.
