The inaugural Sedalia Cigar Festival, featuring music by Soul Root will take place at “The Lot” at the Liberty Center Oct. 3 from 5 to 9 p.m.

There will be cigar vendors, Old Fashioneds, food and more.  There are three ticket levels to choose from:

Cigar, whiskey tasting & concert - $40

Cigar & concert - $20

Concert only - $10

Organizer Larry Parham spoke with KSIS about how the cigar festival came about:

“Well, for several years, me and friends that are cigar lovers always talked about having our own cigar festival. We’ve gone to several in Kansas City and other areas. Sedalia needs to have their own. So we talk about it, and talked about it and talked about it. I finally got tired of talking about it, and I was like ‘Let’s do something about it,’” Parham said.

“I talked with the folks over at the Liberty Center, and they thought it was a great idea. So we partnered up and we put this together” Parham stated.

He credited 1886 restaurant with allowing him to hold a few minor events there. Vendors come from KC and the Lake of the Ozarks and “we’ve had good turnout at each one, so I think we’ve got something” Parham said.

In addition to cigars, Leon from Local Tap will be serving up Old Fashioneds. There will also be whiskey and bourbon tastings available at the October 3 event.

And if you like quality music, you‘ll love Soul Root Band based out of Holt’s Summit. They will be play on stage behind the Liberty Center from 5 to 9 p.m., according to the band’s website. (Note: their website says Hannibal, but the Liberty Center is obviously located in downtown Sedalia at 111 W. 5th Street).
