Pettis County Sheriff’s Reports for May 30, 2024

Tuesday night, Deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of West Clay Street in Smithton in reference to a verbal disturbance. During the investigation, one of the subjects was placed under arrest. Virgil Andrew Edgar Jr., 30, of Sedalia, was arrested because he had two Failure to Appear warrants from Pettis County. The warrants were on original charges of Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, two charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, and Failure to Register a Motor Vehicle*. Edgar was transported to the Pettis County Jail, to be held pending a total cash only bond of $1,000.
On the evening of May 24th, Pettis County Deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Camp Branch Road and Aker Road in Pettis County. Deputies were there to investigate a littering report. When Deputies arrived, they made contact with the reporting party, who was not named in the report. There was a small 4X4 homemade trailer in the ditch along Camp Branch Road. The trailer had no identifying marks, and no VIN on the trailer. The trailer was tagged for removal.
*Edgar also faces charges in June on a separate case involving felony Leaving the Scene of an Accident and felony Resisting Arrest (Resisting a Stop by Fleeing, Creating a Substantial Risk Of Serious Injury or Death).
