
Gravois Mills Firefighters Battle Overnight House Fire in Morgan County
The Missouri State Fire Marshal is investigating a house fire that occurred early Monday morning in Morgan County.
According to the Gravois Mills Fire Protection District, a call was received at 2:13 a.m., reference a residential structure fire in the 31000 block of Highway 135, northwest of Laurie.
Mutual aid from other nearby departments was immediately requested.
Arriving units reported heavy fire involvement in the front portion of the structure, with a vehicle on fire as well as nearby wildland.
Water supply was established through tanker operations, which were hindered by a narrow roadway and low-hanging tree limbs, the report said.
Firefighters confirmed there were no humans inside the residence. And two dogs were able to escape. However, one cat remains unaccounted for, and a bird and a gecko perished in the fire.
No injuries were reported by the homeowner or the firefighters.

The fire damage was contained to the front of the structure, while the remainder had light smoke and water damage.
Eight personnel from Gravois Mill responded with one ladder truck, one engine, and three tankers.
Five personnel from Sunrise Beach responded with a squad truck and a tanker.
Two personnel from Stover responded with one engine-tanker.
Two personnel from Mid-Mo Ambulance responded.
CoMo Electric Cooperative also responded.
Laurie Police responded with one officer.
And the American Red Cross also responded to the scene.
