Are Your Ready? Missouri’s First Snow Likely Saturday!
While the Thanksgiving forecast headlines talk about an "arctic blast" in the heartland and wet weather out east, the National Weather Service says we could see our first measurable snowfall here in Missouri this Saturday.
Friday's forecast shows that much of Missouri, including West Central Missouri, could see snow. I would assume late Friday into Saturday since the National Weather Service has it in their forecast for Saturday.
The National Weather Service says snow is expected to fall early Saturday and that the snow should be done by early afternoon. There is a higher likelihood of measurable snow across the northern tiers of the state, tapering off as you move south.
This puts communities in West Central Missouri along Highway 50, like Sedalia, Warrensburg, and Knob Noster, right on the line between a 20%-40% chance of measurable snow and a 40%-60% chance of measurable snow, according to the National Weather Service map below.
At this point, there remains some uncertainty about where the heaviest snow will fall. The National Weather Service says the snow system is quick-moving and compact.
Overall, the snowfall isn't expected to be a significant storm-type event. The National Weather Service says areas with the most significant snowfall will see around two inches, with many areas seeing less than that. They recommend that those traveling on Saturday keep up with the forecast to see how this snow event unfolds closer to the weekend.
