This Missing Teenager Found In Missouri!

Update 7/29/2024: Sheriff Fred S. Clark, the Halifax County Sheriff, announced via Facebook late Saturday afternoon, June 27, 2024, that Mackenzie Paige Shelton was located safely in Missouri and is being held in protective custody by authorities. The Halifax County Sheriff thanks everyone for giving information to help bring Paige safely home. 

Alerts for a missing young teenager from Halifax, Virginia, have made their way to Missouri as authorities believe the young teenager may be on her way to the state or may already be in the state.

Posts regarding the missing girl first appeared in area Facebook groups like The Burg and Best of Sedalia early this morning. Some research indicated that the posts were not scams and a missing young teenager is believed to be traveling to or on her way to Missouri.

Mackenzie Paige Shelton, 13 years old, with brown hair and green/hazel eyes, is missing. She is five feet to five feet two inches tall and weighs approximately 150 pounds. The Halifax County Sheriff's Office says she was last seen at 8:00 AM EST in Cluster Springs, Virginia.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office reports that Sheriff Fred Clark stated authorities are investigating all information reported to the Sheriff's Office. He says information has been received that she has been seen in surrounding counties and various states. Unfortunately, reporting parties could not provide details like a description of the vehicle, the direction of travel, or who she may be traveling with.

Yesterday morning, Halifax County Sheriff Deputies and K-9 Units responded to the teen's home. The K-9 unit established a track from the teen's residence to the Cherry Hill Church in Cluster Springs, Virginia, where the track ended. Police believe the teen may have obtained a ride at this location.

Information was found at the Shelton residence that the teen left on her own. The teen left with some personal items; however, her electronic devices were found in the residence. Police report that several individuals investigating officers spoke with have reason to believe the teen may be traveling out of state, possibly to Missouri or Minnesota.

The Halifax County Sheriff's Office has shared information about this investigation with the Virginia State Police, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, news outlets, and social media platforms.
