One of my favorite pop artists of the past 15 years is Katy Perry. Like many, I was introduced to her when she released the song "I Kissed A Girl" in 2008, yet her next album, "Teenage Dream," got me interested in her music. I'm not sure she's ever really disappeared, but I lost track of her sometime after her song "Roar" was a hit. Yet, she's back, and I will tell you how you can hear her new album for free with other Katy Perry fans before it's released.

Perry, for the record, didn't go away after her album "Prism."  She was swamped. She released two other albums, did the Super Bowl Halftime Show, became a mother, wrote an anthem for NBC for the 2016 Olympics, was a judge on American Idol, and sang at President Biden's Inauguration, among her many projects.

I've always been a sucker for good pop music; it must be because I grew up on Top 40 radio in the 80s. Sure, there were some great rock bands. And the hair metal guys that knew how to party. Yet, for me, I've always enjoyed a good pop song. Remember "Two of Hearts" from Stacey Q? Or "Baby Love" from Regina? Or "Fascinated" by the Human League? I always enjoyed that stuff. I'm not saying the music saved the world or was high art, but it's fun.

That's what I equate with Katy Perry's music: fun.

Perry's new record, "143," which Elle says is the old shorthand way of texting "I Love You," is set for release on Friday, September 20. Yet you and I can hear the album from front to back at Jammin' Nuggets Music on Wednesday, September 18 at 7:00 PM CDT.

Perry released a video for the first single from the record, "Woman's World" in July.

Jammin' Nuggets Music in Sedalia is one of only two record stores in Missouri offering this tremendous opportunity to hear Perry's new record before its release. Like many listening parties, there will be goodies for fans to take home, and while I haven't spoken to James at Jammin' Nuggets, sometimes there is a cool prize you can register to win.

Jammin' Nuggets Music is located at 115 S. Ohio Street in Sedalia. They've previously hosted listening parties for new releases from artists like Duran Duran, Kacey Musgraves, The Black Crowes, Lainey Wilson, George Straight, Chris Stapleton, Black Crowes, Metallica, Greenday, and more. Whether you love vinyl, or just want to hear new music first, these events are always a treat. You can keep up with their listening parties and what's happening with the store here.

Hope to see you at Jammin' Nuggets for the party in a few weeks!

LOOK: 50 famous memes and what they mean

With the infinite number of memes scattered across the internet, it's hard to keep track. Just when you've grasped the meaning of one hilarious meme, it has already become old news and replaced by something equally as enigmatic. Online forums like Tumblr, Twitter, 4chan, and Reddit are responsible for a majority of meme infections, and with the constant posting and sharing, finding the source of an original meme is easier said than done. Stacker hunted through internet resources, pop culture publications, and databases like Know Your Meme to find 50 different memes and what they mean. While the almost self-replicating nature of these vague symbols can get exhausting, memes in their essence can also bring people closer together—as long as they have internet access.
