It's not exactly breaking news that all of Missouri was hot on Tuesday, August 27. However, there was one place in the state that is now confirmed to have tied a 143-year-old high temperature record.

The National Weather Service in Saint Louis, Missouri shared several facts today. First is the historic high temperature record that had stood for 143 years.

It was back on August 27, 1881 when St. Louis, Missouri reached a high of 102 degrees. That temperature had never been matched since...until this Tuesday when the high again reached 102 degrees. I don't believe the heat index was something that was measured 143 years ago, but surely the sky high "feels like" numbers that St. Louis and other parts of Missouri reached would have also been records.

The second bit of news from the National Weather Service for Missouri is that a cooldown is coming, but not fast.
