Is Missouri About to Start Its Hottest & Stormiest Summer Ever?
It's not breaking news that you can expect summer to be hot in Missouri, but there are forecasts that seem to agree that the state may be about to start one of the warmest in history and it also might be one of the stormiest, too.
Let's start with the official forecast from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center. They tend to be much more conservative in their estimates of heat and storms than you'll find on most YouTube channels and websites that aren't official government sources. Their 3-month outlook shows Missouri leaning above average for temps.
The new outlook from AccuWeather is a little more interesting as they are not only predicting one of the hottest summers on record, but also an unusual continuation of storms that normally become less severe once Spring is over.
Their belief is that patterns that tend to bring severe convective storms through Missouri and the rest of the Midwest during Spring appear to be lingering longer than normal meaning that July and August will likely have explosive supercell development later in the Summer than normal.
Will Missouri really experience one of the hottest summers on record? Time will tell, but it doesn't look like the severe weather development is calming down anytime soon.
