Illinois Officially Has the Most Awesome Bike Path in the World

It's very fashionable to say negative things about Illinois online these days. You won't find that here. As a matter of fact, the Land of Lincoln can brag about the fact that it possesses the most awesome bike path in the world and there are pictures and video to prove it.

Virtual Cycling on YouTube shared a stunning video showing what the Lakefront Trail in Chicago is like to ride. Breathtaking doesn't even begin to describe it. It begins near the Adler Planetarium to Montrose Beach (South to North) and hugs the area along Chicago's Lakeshore Drive.

From the beach area, you'll eventually head up into a park area.

Then, it's back down near the beach with the city just to your left and lake (and joggers) to the right.

It's a popular mini-beach area, too.

There are plenty of trees along this Illinois bike path, too.

Whatever you do, don't turn right here.

The end of the pier is the end of your bike journey unless you enjoy swimming.

I believe the entire video is meant to be something you can watch while you ride your exercise bike at home and imagine that you're cycling along the Chicago lakefront.
