Rising Expenses Force Missouri Bakery to Shut Down
If you don't understand the struggle that Missouri restaurants and stores face, this should be a sobering education. A beloved bakery in Missouri has announced they're closing due to astronomical rises in utility and insurance costs.
Have you ever been to this bakery located at 1730 S 8th Street in St. Louis? This is Mauki's Bakery & Country Store.
A few weeks ago Mauki's Bakery & Country Store announced their imminent closure on their Facebook page due to skyrocketing utility and insurance costs. Their last day of business will be August 1, 2025.
Can you imagine coming up with a business plan basing your success on costs as they are at that time only to have those bills jump up to 30 times the original investment? There's no way to sustain a business with that type of expenditure with the possibility that it will rise even more. I know how hard it is to maintain a family budget with utility costs that sometimes quadruple with little warning. For a business, that challenge is exponential. Let's hope this bakery in the St. Louis area can find a new location where costs can be more controlled. I don't blame them at all for deciding to call it a day at this time.
