Most of Missouri Could Be Impacted By Snow Early in December

There's no need at this point to worry about any kind of major snow event in Missouri, but you should know that most of the state is likely to be impacted by some snow early in December and some of it could add up.

I saw this alert shared by one of my go-to weather experts on YouTube, Meteorologist Travis Roberts, who noticed the GFS model showing two different factors that will start impacting Missouri early next week. There is going to be a trough of really cold arctic air that will drop temperatures where daily highs will only be in the 20's and some parts of Missouri could only reach the teens.

This gets interesting as there will also be energy in the atmosphere with moisture in a system that will be moving directly across the middle of Missouri beginning early in the morning of Tuesday, December 3. As of this writing, here is the snowfall that the computer model shows for Missouri around 7am on Tuesday, December 3.

I would advise watching Travis explain what's going on here as he's also very uncertain of exactly how strong (or not) this system will be.

Let's emphasize that this system is not expected to interrupt travel in Missouri in any significant way, but there is some potential for several inches of snow particularly in the middle part of Missouri. It's that time of year when we need to start paying attention to these wintry systems so we don't all get an unwelcome surprise.
