It's not exactly news that this year has been one of the most challenging for food chains. That sad trend continues as an Italian food chain with locations in both Missouri and Illinois has declared bankruptcy.

I saw this court filing shared by Nation's Restaurant News of an Italian restaurant chain that got their start in 1993 now declaring Chapter 11 bankruptcy. It's Buca di Beppo which has restaurants in both Kansas City, Missouri and also the Chicago, Illiinois area according to their official website location finder.

The story about their bankruptcy on Nation's Restaurant News says they've been facing "declining sales, rising costs, continued staffing challenges and changes in consumer preferences" which is a lot to overcome.

According to the report, Buca di Beppo closed at least a dozen restaurant locations recently that were underperforming, but there's no indication that the Missouri or Illinois locations have been affected.

There is hope that the chain can pull itself out of this downward financial spin as there is a report that they are also looking to open a new location and are hopeful that their remaining places will be able to be more stable.
