Missouri Restaurant Just Closed Due to Inflation & Cost of Goods
In the 1980's, there was a popular song called "Things Can Only Get Better". There are many restaurants in Missouri that are still waiting for that hope to come true as another just closed its doors due to inflation and the cost of goods.
The latest Missouri restaurant to call it a day is Los Cabos Mexican Grill & Cantina located at 18201 Bass Pro Drive in Independence, Missouri.
According to a report by The Kansas City Star, there was a sign posted on the door saying that they had closed permanently as of this past Sunday, October 27. The reason given on the sign for the restaurant's closure was "inflation and continued rising cost of goods."
Why are so many Missouri restaurants closing in 2024?
That question was asked on LinkedIn and the 3 factors mentioned were "Inflation, rising food costs, and higher wages" which was complicated after the shutdown in 2020.
The sad reality is that while many Missouri restaurants have already closed forever, there are others that are trying to figure out how to make a go of it as we speak. When the food costs for the restaurants are higher, that means the prices on the menu will be higher, too. Finding workers for the food industry can be a challenge, too.
Let's hope that the trend of restaurants closing in Missouri gets turned around and soon.
