Reports Say Pizza Chain with 22 Illinois Places May Go Bankrupt
It's not easy trying to be a restaurant these days and national chains are certainly not excluded. Multiple reports say that a pizza chain that currently has 22 restaurants in Illinois is exploring bankruptcy possibilities.
These business rumors aren't coming from small potato sources either. The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg are both reporting that Mod Pizza is struggling to find a way forward and bankruptcy is reportedly among those options.
The Mod Pizza website currently shows 22 Illinois locations including this one in Carbondale.
Based on their Illinois map, most of the Mod Pizza places are in the Chicago area.
Let's be clear that nothing appears to be decided, but both reports say that Mod Pizza has brought on legal and financial advisors to help guide them forward. Perhaps there will be another financing option or maneuver that will allow them to avoid bankruptcy and potential restaurant closures. Everything is preliminary, but the rumbles are definitely concerning that yet another food chain with lots of Illinois connections might be in trouble.
As this is a developing story, it will be updated if new information is provided by Mod Pizza as they move forward. Hopefully, it's with new store openings and not issues for the current Illinois ones.
