Farmers’ Almanac Predicts Early Planting Season for Missouri
I'm so happy that I feel like jumping through the ceiling. That's probably a bit of an overreaction, but I am thrilled that Farmer's Almanac is saying that Missouri residents can expect to plant earlier than normal this year.
The "old" Farmer's Almanac just shared this exciting update on their Facebook page this morning. If you're a fan of Spring and not cold weather, you'll love this.
This is all about the last predicted frost date in Missouri and Farmer's Almanac thinks the weather will get warm enough to plant sooner rather than later. Here are their exact words about what the green area over Missouri means:
"If your region is shaded green, the last spring frost is expected to arrive earlier than average—potentially a week or two."
The Old Farmer's Almanac goes on to say that Missouri is in the part of America that will be "greener than normal". How does the Old Farmer's Almanac know what the weather will do this far away from Spring? It's a "a secret, proprietary formula combining solar science, climatology, and meteorology, analyzing historical data, sunspot activity, and long-term atmospheric patterns" according to the methodology shared by the Old Farmer's Almanac. Are they right? I have no idea, but considering how much I despise snow and shovels, I'm a big fan of any outlook that says Missouri will see Spring sooner rather than later.
