I've seen proof of this and I still don't believe it. There is one thing that Missouri has more of than California and I predict you'll be shocked, too, if you've never heard it before.

I saw this claim shared on YouTube today by Warrensburg Missouri about the 10 reasons why people are moving to Missouri. See if you can tell which one got my attention.

Fact - Missouri has more coastline than California

How is this possible? The entire state of California is bordered by the Pacific Ocean and Missouri isn't. But, as the Visit Missouri website points out, Missouri does have more than 1,100 miles of coastline thanks to Lake of the Ozarks.

If I were trying to be a skeptic, I'd ask what should or shouldn't be considered "coastline". While I definitely love and appreciate the many wonderful lakes in Missouri, when I think of coastlines, I think of oceans or the Gulf of Mexico, but that's just me. Not trying to detract from this interesting Missouri vs California comparison, but I think it's fair to mention that some might not be impressed if they're looking for the coastline lifestyle. But, it's not like living along the Lake of the Ozarks isn't epic. It's also worth comparing the cost of living in California to Missouri which might make a few west coasters rethink their coastline lifestyle for our lakes.
