UFO or Meteor? Missouri Man’s Strange Night Sky Encounter
This is one of the best times of year to observe meteor showers which is what led a Missouri man to peek outside. What he ended up witnessing was much more than meteors as he says he saw a strange object that flew over his head.
The National UFO Reporting Center just shared a new encounter from a man near Brumley, Missouri that took place just after midnight on August 13, 2025. His eyewitness testimony said that he went outside to view a meteor shower, but ended up seeing something unexpected. He said he's a 62-year-old retired physician. It was an object that silently flew right over his head. Here's a snippet from what he said:
"About 10 minutes after I started watching, a small triangular "craft" flew directly over me coming from the SW. It was just slightly higher than the tree line and ~ 10-12 feet wide. The tips of the triangle were rounded, and the "legs" of the triangle dipped in slightly at the center of each one."
He went on to say that the object then disappeared behind a tree line. He said there were no sounds and no smells and no lights emitting from the object. It just cruised over him and then silently disappeared. Someone or something was watching him.
The first thing I ask myself when I see stories like this is how close was the eyewitness to an Air Force Base. In his case, Brumley, Missouri is nearly 2 hours to the southeast of Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri and more than 3 hours from Scott Air Force Base to the east in Illinois. The closest military base would be Fort Leonard Wood one hour to the southeast. It's not impossible, but also not likely that either of these 3 bases would have been doing anything unusual this Missouri man might have witnessed. That means by definition, he saw a UFO. What is is remains anyone's guess.
