Anthony Bourdain’s #1 Favorite Eatery Was Missouri BBQ
Anthony Bourdain's journey through life was a compelling yet sad one. He was always in his favorite element when he was experiencing unique food places. Of all the restaurants in the world that Anthony visited, his #1 favorite above them all was a Missouri barbeque joint.
Anthony Bourdain was a food, travel and journalistic legend
Love Food just shared an interesting top 50 list of Anthony Bourdain's approved restaurants in each state and the eatery at #1 is a place in Kansas City, Missouri famous for BBQ. Anthony absolutely adored Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que. They noted that he visited Joe's on more than one episode and show. Anthony featured Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que on A Cook’s Tour and No Reservations. There are few things in life Anthony seemed to enjoy more than eating Kansas City BBQ, soaking up the atmosphere and talking about the sometimes twisted history of the city. He had a unique gift of being able to see behind the superficial food offerings and dig into the culture behind it.
Anthony Bourdain left this life much too soon. His life and legacy carry on, though, as his shows are still among the most popular through streaming services. His many visits to Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que and other Missouri eateries are among them. I just rewatched a few myself and it made two things happen. 1. I now crave KC BBQ like crazy. 2. I miss Anthony Bourdain's unique take on our world even more.
