There are a lot of ways you can measure whether a city or town is safe to live in. The obvious metrics include property and violent crime, but there's another that impacts nearly everyone and that's vehicle theft. Only one place in Missouri can say they have zero vehicles stolen which is quite a feat.

I was looking at the most recent safest cities list from Safewise and noticed one small statistic that I haven't seen anyone else mention. They say that in Missouri "Ashland was the only city to report zero motor vehicle thefts."

Here's the thing about Ashland, Missouri. It's not that far away from Columbia, Missouri - just a mile or two south of the city.

Wikipedia says that the most recent population for little Ashland is a mere 4,747 which isn't large, but isn't insignificant either. No offense intended, Columbia, but I would think that at least some vehicle thieves from that area trickling down south a mile or two. The fact that Ashland has zero vehicle thefts is stunning. One of two things is happening. Either that small Missouri place is super safe or someone stopped counting. Either way, they have a fun thing to brag about.
