How Fast Over the Speed Limit Can Go On Missouri Highways?
Admit it...you speed when you drive? Heck, I know I do, but how much over the speed limit can you go legally in Missouri?
Yes, you can speed A LITTLE when driving on Missouri Highways. Legally you can get pulled over doing 1 mph, but most officers let you do 5 mph over the speed limit, however, you don't want to push your luck. Tyler Law Office says,
The Missouri Speeding Ticket Fines for going 6-10 mph over the limit are $83. Going 11-15 mph over costs you $108, 16-19 mph $133, and 20-25 mph a whopping $208.
You can get a ticket, but hopefully, you won't meet a Grinch and the officer will just give you a warning if you are pulled over for speeding. If you're thinking of pushing the pedal a little bit this weekend you might want to remember that there will be more police presence on highways this holiday and you might not want to push that pedal too hard.
Control Your Speed
The Drivers Guide for Missouri (and any state) says to control your speed often and always check your speedometer. Also, cruise control is your friend. The fastest you can go on a Missouri interstate is 70.
I always do 6 - 7 MPH over and that seems to be the right spot for not getting pulled over. It must be working I've never received a speeding ticket in the 20-plus years I've been driving. So I must be doing something right.
