I love history, and I think if I hadn't gone into the radio and content profession, I probably would have pursued a career related to history. With America celebrating its 250th birthday this year, it's been fascinating to witness all of the historical events and commemorations leading up to the big Fourth of July celebration.

Missouri's Journey Since Statehood

It got me thinking about individual states and just how much they've changed over the more than 200 years of our nation's history. Missouri, in particular, has come a long way. Since becoming a state on August 10, 1821, the Show-Me State has seen its cities and communities grow year after year.

How Missouri's Population Has Grown

Today, more than 6.7 million people live in Missouri, according to USAFacts. About 150 years ago, the largest population in Missouri was in St. Louis County, with just 310,796 residents. It's safe to say that Missouri has experienced tremendous growth over the past century and a half.
