Impact Signs, Awnings and Wraps, Inc., announced on Wednesday that the company is building a new state-of-the-art headquarters and manufacturing facility in Sedalia.

A new 60,000-square-foot building will be constructed on 5.5 acres at the corner of Curry and Main Street (810 Curry Drive) at Thompson Meadows Industrial Park on West 50, according to Rusty Kahrs, president of the EDSPC (Economic Development Sedalia-Pettis County) Board of Directors.

Impact Founder and CEO David Goodson plans to add eight more employees to an existing payroll of 40 through a construction project expected to cost around $8 million.

According to Sedalia Mayor Andrew Dawson, “any time a company is looking at expanding their footprint, there's a decision that has to be made. Do we relocate? Or do we stay in the community that we're in?

“On behalf of the City of Sedalia, I want to thank Impact Signs for choosing Sedalia. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Impact Signs to secure their expansion in Sedalia, their success is a direct result of the company's commitment to quality, and the hard-working men and women at Impact Signs,” Mayor Dawson said.

Dr. Brent Bates offered his congratulations to David and Julie Goodson, and the rest of the Impact team, as well as EDSPC, the City of Sedalia and Pettis County.

Goodson is a former SFCC student and trained on campus at the CTC, Dr. Bates noted, which made the announcement even more sweet. The announcement was made in front of the newly-opened Olen Howard Work Innovation Center.

“He studied in the precision machining program, and I am confident to say that the machines that he trained on then are quite different than the state-of-the-art machines we have here now at State Fair Community College,” Bates said. “We congratulate David and Julie. David, we're proud to count you as a State Fair Community College success story. And we wish you the best and we're here for you all.”

Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe also attended the announcement, which included lunch and tours of the Howard Innovation Center.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the Goodson family was presented with a plaque from EDSPC honoring their business expansion.

“This expansion is a direct response to the increased demand of our products & services,” said David Goodson, President & CEO. “Last year, Impact provided sign products & services to 13 different states, in 209 cities and represented over 1000 projects. We offer visual communication and branding solutions that are specific to our client needs. Our goal is to help each of our customers elevate their brands and businesses to the next level.”

Impact Signs offer a wide variety of products and services ranging consultation, design, engineering, permitting, manufacturing, transportation, installation and service of all types of signage, along with a full line of custom printed products and wraps.

“Launched in Sedalia nearly 25 years ago, Impact Signs has been a steadfast and quality employer and we could not be more excited for their continued growth and reinvestment”, said Rusty Kahrs, President of Economic Development - Sedalia Pettis County’s Board of Directors. “These new jobs will be a wonderful addition to our community and Thompson Meadows Industrial Park!”
