Hunter Hayes Sings the Nominations for Pop Vocal Album at 2012 Grammy Nominations Concert
Fast-rising star Hunter Hayes threw an interesting twist on announcing the nominees for Pop Vocal Album at Wednesday night's (Dec. 5) Grammy Nominations Concert, which broadcast live from Nashville. Instead of reading them from a list, the enterprising singer-songwriter sang a snippet of each nominated song.
Beginning with Kelly Clarkson's 'Stronger,' the young musician ran through a brief set that included Florence and the Machine's 'Ceremonials,' fun.'s 'Some Nights,' 'Overexposed' by Maroon 5 and Pink's 'The Truth About Love,' accompanying himself on acoustic guitar. He cracked a self-deprecating joke beforehand, apologizing to all the artists for taking liberties with their songs -- but he didn't need to, since his seemingly offhand renditions were actually very innovative and cool.
Hayes is no stranger to awards himself. He took home the Best New Artist award at the recent 2012 CMA Awards -- and just minutes after his performance, he was also nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist.
