Hubbard Park to Receive New Playground Equipment

On Thursday evening, the Sedalia Park Board approved moving forward with purchasing new playground equipment for Hubbard Park for $127,088.

The move pleased Parks & Rec Director Amy Epple.

“We had budgeted $175,000 for the year. The playground will be going in on the other side of the track, close to the flag pole. During construction, we will leave the current playgrounds up, but next year will be tearing them down because they aren't in good condition, and replace the space with a splash pad,” Epple said.

“The splash pad will be going where the old Hubbard pool was, which I think will be a great addition to Hubbard Park,” she noted.

Miracle of Monett, Mo., was the winning bidder for the project.

Epple also noted that “baseball is going well. Everyone is doing a pretty good job following the guidelines.

“(Liberty and Centennial) Pools are going well, we haven't gotten to close to Covid-19 maximum capacity at either pool. Having two pools really helps,” Epple said, admitting that social distancing is hard in a public pool situation.

“It is, but people have been pretty good...being that it is so hot helps for no one wants to be close to someone when its so hot, either,” she said.

Overall, the feedback has been very positive, Epple said about reopening the parks. “People are so excited to be outside and enjoy some family time together.”
