How Would You Like to Own a Wild Horse or Burro?
If you ever dreamed as a kid of having your own horse or burro, here's your chance to fullfill it with an upcoming event at the Missouri State Fairgrounds.
The Bureau of Land Management will offer wild horses and burros for adoption, October 6-7, 2016, at the Missouri State Fair Grounds.
The horses will be available October 6 starting at 8:00 a.m. with internet pickup until noon. The adoption, first come, first served is from noon until 5:00 p.m. The adoption continues on Saturday, October 7 from 8:00 am to 4:00 p.m.
The adoption rate is $125 for animals less than three years of age. A second animal may be adopted for $25, which is the same rate for animals older than three years. All animals available for adoption have been examined by a veterinarian, vaccinated, de-wormed, and blood-tested.
Adopters must be at least 18 years old, and provide an enclosed facility with access to feed, water and shelter. Prospective adopters must have sturdy corrals that are at least 20’ x 20’ and 6’ high for an adult horse, or no less than 5’ high for horses younger than 18 months.
Applications to adopt may be submitted at the adoption site until the close of the adoption on Saturday. For more information about adopting one of America’s Living Legends, call 1-866-4MUSTANGS (1-866-468-7826) or visit www.wildhorseandburro.blm.gov.
