Hofstetter Named Elementary Counselor Of The Year
Washington Elementary School Counselor Michelle Hofstetter has been named the 2023 Central Missouri Elementary School Counselor of the Year.
She learned about the honor at a surprise assembly on Tuesday afternoon with all of the school’s students and staff members in attendance, along with members of Hofstetter’s family.
Jackie Lollis, a member of the Central Missouri School Counselor Association leadership team, presented the award. She said, “From the letters of support that I read for this award, I learned that (Hofstetter) is the heart of your building. I believe that is the
biggest compliment of them all."
Washington Principal Lisa Volk, who worked with Washington Social Worker Marcy
Husong to nominate Hofstetter, praised Hofstetter for her leadership on the school’s
Great Kindness Challenge program and for her efforts as a mentor for other counselors in the Sedalia 200 district and for teachers in their building.
“She is helping teachers help you,” Volk told the students.
Hofstetter has worked at Washington for 20 years as a teacher and school counselor.
