High School bands from across Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska, and Illinois will find themselves in Warrensburg Saturday for the University of Central Missouri's Festival of Champions.

The Festival of Champions pits 28 field bands competing against each other in four division categories and three areas of competition: Field Show Competition, Indoor Percussion Competition, Indoor Guard Competition.

Of course with 28 marching bands in town, with the competition beginning at 9:00 AM Central Time Saturday Morning. Expect the UCM campus area of Warrensburg to be congested Saturday. Warrensburg restaurants to be busy for much of the day. And Holden Street will be closed between South and Clark Streets due to moving band equipment.

Of course, many of the participating bands are from the same schools Warrensburg High School or Smith-Cotton High School play in sports. Clinton High School, Rock Bridge High School, Windsor High School, Hickman High School, Blue Springs, and Blue Springs East High Schools are all participating. So is Warrensburg High School, which will perform in the preliminary competition at 2:45 PM CDT.

The competition is open to the public for viewing. General admission tickets will be available at the Southwest Gate of Walton Stadium. Tickets are $13.00 for ages ten and up, $10.00 for military and seniors, $5.00 for kids ages five to ten, and children four years of age and younger can get in free. Cash and debit cards will both be accepted.
