‘Halo’ TV: Pablo Schreiber Will Play Master Chief
I cannot believe that there’s a photo in Getty Images of Pablo Schreiber with a halo over his head. It’s like he knew this day would come! And now it has.
Deadline reports that Schreiber will play Master Chief, the lead character on Showtime’s television show based on the Halo video game series. Chief is described there as “Earth’s most advanced warrior in the 26th century and the only hope of salvation for a civilization pushed to the brink of destruction by the Covenant, an unstoppable alliance of alien worlds committed to the destruction of humanity.”
Yerin Ha also joins the show as “Quan Ah, a shrewd, audacious 16-year-old from the Outer Colonies who meets Master Chief at a fateful time for them both.”
Schreiber is an excellent actor, known in recent years for his roles on Orange Is the New Black and American Gods. I’m not sure whether we’ll see his face onscreen or if the show will follow the games in keeping Master Chief entirely behind his signature green-and-gold helmet. Frankly, who knows if we’ll see anything out of this show; Halo movies or television series have been in the works for years and years and nothing has materialized yet.
