Before now, country newcomer Greg Bates had probably only dreamed of performing on Nashville’s famed Opry stage, but on Friday night (April 27), that became a reality. Bates sang his new single ‘Did It for the Girl’ for the Grand Ole Opry crowd. While Bates is a fresh face, his song is becoming familiar. The week of its release, ‘Did It for the Girl’ was the most radio added song with 29 adds. It landed just behind superstar Keith Urban.

“I have always dreamed of playing the Opry. Just to stand in that famous circle where so many legends before me have performed was an absolutely amazing experience,” said Bates (courtesy of CMTT). “Thank you, Pete for the incredible opportunity.”

Bates is a Nashville native, so dozens of his close friends and family were a part of the crowd the night he made his debut. Bates might be a newcomer to the country music scene, but he has years of experience playing guitar and singing songs. His voice is sweet as molasses, and his music sounds like stripped-down country — which is most likely a recipe for success.

Bates is expected to put out a full album later this year.
