My wife and I took a trip to KC recently to spend an afternoon at the Kansas City Zoo. We hadn't been in about 3 1/2 years. Time to get out the red pen and give it it's marks.

First off, I always enjoy the ease of getting into the zoo. The parking lot is close to the entrance, and as you arrive to the ticket office you feel like a kid again. Lions, Tigers and Bears, oh my!

We went to the zoo, more than anything, to see the polar bears, monkees/apes and tigers along with everything else in between as we trekked along our desiganted course of action.

I don't know if it was feeding time, nap time, I-just-don't-want to deal-with-these-humans time of the day or all of the above, but we were disappointed.

Really no activity with the animals. The ones we could see, were very docile. Many of them were pretty much out of site and usually had their backs to us the whole time. Construction areas where nothing was going on.

A train ride that we thought would take us through areas that would show us even more animals but very, very disappointed with the view of maybe two or three areas of animals.

Unfortunately, with my red pen in hand, I think the day was a C-. Time to pick up your game Kansas CIty Zoo. Not impressed.
