Got Solution About 70/63 Interchange? MoDOT Wants To Hear From You
As a former resident of the City of Columbia, I lived very close to the interchange of I-70 and I-63. For many residents of the city, this interchange is just frustrating. It is the busiest, and there are an awful lot of trucks that travel around this area. If any of you have visited or traveled to Columbia, perhaps you know what I am talking about.
A project to reconfigure the 70/63 interchange was added to the Missouri Department of Transportation's 2023-2027 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, approved by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission on Wednesday. So perhaps there will be a improvement coming. The construction will be completed as a design-build project, meaning the same contractor will be awarded the work to design and build the infrastructure. The connector project is expected to cost approximately $140 million. You can read a bit more about this HERE.
MoDOT is asking for input from any residents of Columbia, or anyone who travels in that area. You can access information and provide comments virtually or in person. An online form for comments will be available from July 13 through July 31 at www.modot.org/improvei70Columbia. If you actually want to speak in person, mark the date on your calendar of July 21. There will be a meeting from 4-6pm at the Columbia Activities and Recreation Center, 1701 W. Ash St.
No one likes a lot of construction and I am certain this has been a source of frustration for many people who have traveled at this interchange.
