Giving Blood Is More Important Now Than Ever
When people think of emergency services, you think about things like the Fire Department, the Police Department. And while that's accurate, it's not the whole story. Sure, you want the fire out, you want the criminals arrested, but there's also the first responders with the hospitals and clinics, and they need your help.
Before the pandemic, you'd always hear about how blood is desperately needed to keep hospitals stocked. When everything went down, blood drives also scaled back. So now, you can imagine how close to empty some of the blood banks are. As things are starting to come back, this is a great way to give back to your community. One in three people will need blood at some point in their lifetime. So if you think about it, that's definitely someone you know, or even you.
I've given blood I don't know how many times, and it's always an easy process. It takes maybe a hour, you get a snack and a juice, and you're on your way. Here's the next opportunity for you to donate blood. It's coming up with the Community Blood Center. There are two days you can donate. The first is on Monday, April 12th from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the second is Tuesday April 13th from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The drives will be held at the First Christian Church, 200 South Limit.
Of course as always you're encouraged to make an appointment. You can do that here and entere in the group code SD. If you want more details, you can call Lisa Nelson at 816-216-4771.
So go online, make your appointment, and maybe take a long lunch that day. After all, can your boss really fault you for wanting to save lives?!
