Final Ray Price Recordings to Be Released
Ray Price's final recording sessions, put into an album titled 'Beauty Is...' will be made available in April.
The well-loved legend, who is known for hits like 'Crazy Arms' and 'My Shoes Keep Walking Back to You,' will live on through the collection of previously unreleased tracks, which will hit on April 15, just a few months following his death.
Produced by Fred Foster, the project features Price’s classic sound in the form of duets with fellow country stars like Vince Gill and Martina McBride. It's not an accident that this album is coming out so soon after the singer's passing -- Price planned to work on an album when he was sick with cancer, because he knew he didn't have much time left.
“[Ray] called me in 2012 and said, ‘I think I have one album left in me; I’m not well, you know,’” Foster recounts. “He said, ‘I want to do one last one, and I want you to do it with me.’ The whole time we were working together, his state of mind was always really good. You would never know how sick he was to talk to him. What a classy guy."
Also on the release are songs from Country Music Hall of Fame members Cindy Walker and Willie Nelson, titled 'Until Then' and 'It Will Always Be,' respectively. Fans can enjoy this highly-anticipated, yet bittersweet record, knowing it will sound like the Price they've always loved and admired.
“After one listen of this remarkable album, you will note that Price’s flawless phrasing, vocal resonance and burnished warmth of tone create a glow that lingers long after the final notes have sounded,” says MusicRow’s Robert K. Oermann.
A three-song EP from the project is now available digitally.
