Two people were arrested on December 3 after deputies with the Pettis County Sheriff's Office checked on a suspicious vehicle in the 3400 block of W. Broadway.

The Pettis County Sheriff's Office says in a news release that the driver took off at a high rate of speed when deputies attempted to make contact, and a passenger ran from the vehicle. The passenger, Brandon Lee High-Frump, was taken into custody on outstanding warrants after a short foot pursuit. Authorities say he was found to have methamphetamine hidden in a sock during a search at the Pettis County Jail.

The vehicle was later stopped by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Pettis County deputies. The driver, Kathleen Louise Heskett, was taken into custody on two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and endangering the welfare of a child.
