Another building on Main Street in Sedalia is slated for demolition.

This time, it's 321 East Main, located just west of the Washington Street Bridge.

The commercial building was deemed too dangerous to remain standing, and therefore was approved for demolition by Sedalia City Council Monday night through the Community Development Committee.

Four bids were received for the job, ranging from $35,505 to $123,500. The specs included asbestos abatement, demolition and cleanup.

Dehn Demolition from Independence was the low bidder and awarded the job.

City Administrator Kelvin Shaw noted that due to the cost of demolition most likely exceeding the value of the property, the owners issued a quit-claim deed to the City.

The two-story brick structure is a public hazard due to its dilapidated condition, it was noted during the budget development process.
