David Nail Splits With MCA Nashville
David Nail has departed from MCA Nashville, his longtime record label.
A representative from Universal Music Group Nashville, MCA Nashville's parent company, confirmed Nail's split from the label to Sounds Like Nashville; however, there are no further details about when, exactly, Nail and MCA Nashville parted ways.
Nail signed with MCA Nashville in 2007 and released four studio albums and two EPs while with the label: 2009's I'm About to Come Alive, The Sound of a Million Dreams in 2011, 2012's 1979 EP, 2014's I'm a Fire and both Fighter and the Uncovered EP in 2016. He notched seven Top 40 singles while with MCA Nashville, including "Let It Rain" and "Whatever She's Got," which both went to No. 1.
Nail's most recent single is "Good at Tonight," which features Brothers Osborne. John and TJ Osborne wrote the song with Troy Verges and Barry Dean.
“A couple months [after Nail cut "Good at Tonight"], we saw him perform at Watershed [Country Music Festival], up in Washington State, and it was at that moment, we were like, ‘Damn! We should have cut that damn song. It’s so good!,'" John Osborne admits. "We totally missed the boat on that one."
Nail has a few tour dates on his calendar, scheduled for throughout 2017. He and wife Catherine are the parents of twins, Lillian and Lawson, born in December of 2015.
