The City of Sedalia entered into a lease agreement with Center For Human Services on Monday night, taking over the operation of the CHS's Bloomin' Garden Greenhouse.

The greenhouse, located at 1500 ½ Ewing Drive, is no longer wanted by CHS due to a change in their programming, explained Councilwoman Megan Page, Chairwoman of the Public Works Committee.

The greenhouse will now be operated, maintained and insured through Sedalia Parks & Recreation, after CHS officials approached City officials about the idea.

Mayor John Kehde called the greenhouse “a great asset to the City of Sedalia,” noting that Parks & Rec Director Amy Epple is excited to use the facility, as their current greenhouse is being stretched to capacity.

The acquisition will allow the City's beautification efforts through Sedalia Parks & Rec to expand even further.
