Chris Pine and ‘Wonder Woman’ Director Patty Jenkins Set TNT Black Dahlia Series
Wonder Woman 2 may not come about until 2019, but Chris Pine is already back taking direction from Patty Jenkins. Pine will star in a new TNT limited series about the Black Dahlia murder, with Jenkins attached to direct.
TNT confirmed the news ahead of its TCA press tour panel, noting that production on One Day She’ll Darken will begin this fall. The six-episode drama is inspired by the autobiography of Fauna Hodel, executive produced and directed by Jenkins, and written by husband and author Sam Sheridan. So reads the synopsis (via THR):
One Day She’ll Darken tells the story of Fauna Hodel, who was given away by her teenage birth mother to a black restroom attendant in a Nevada casino in 1949. As Fauna begins to investigate the secrets to her past, she follows a sinister trail that swirls closer to an infamous Hollywood gynecologist Dr. George Hodel, a man involved in the legendary Black Dahlia slaying of Elizabeth Short in Los Angeles in 1947.
His first series regular role, Pine will star as Jay Singletary, a former Marine and “hack reporter/paparazzo” who was disgraced years earlier. As the synopsis outlines, “inside this riddle lies a moral quandary he never expected: a labyrinth into the evil in men’s hearts that will shake the unsteady Jay to his foundations.” Sure!
Jenkins, meanwhile, has a career in TV dating back to Arrested Development, The Killing and others. Production will commence this fall, so stay tuned for word of additional cast for One Day She’ll Darken.
