Cam Brings ‘Preacher’ Eric Church Onstage for ‘Country Music Jesus’ at the Mother Church [Watch]
When Cam headlined her own show at the Mother Church of country music — the Ryman Auditorium — she didn’t let the significance of the venue's previous incarnation get lost on her or her audience. So, as the show began to wind down on Wednesday night (Sept. 26), she declared, "I need a preacher out here," and brought to the stage a special guest, Eric Church.
After a quick hello from the "Desperate Man" hitmaker, the two old friends delivered a rafter-shaking rendition of “Country Music Jesus,” from Church's 2011 album, The Chief.
It was a bit of a finale performance before Cam closed her show with her 2015 hit single, "Burning House."
It's Not Perfect, But Women Are Kinda Slaying in Country Right Now!
This isn't the first time the pair has performed together in a live setting. In 2016, Church brought Cam onstage during his show at Colorado's famous Red Rocks Amphitheater, telling the crowd that she was one of his favorite artists. The pair then sang his stirring love song "Like Jesus Does," also from The Chief.
Cam, who has become an outspoken advocate of female artists in the format, recently changed record labels from Sony Nashville to RCA New York. While she didn’t disclose specifics on the jump, she did say that this move would ensure that her new music would receive the best possible launch and that a new tour would follow soon after.
If you missed Cam’s show at the historic Ryman, you may have one more chance to catch her this year when she again on October 1 in Huntsville, Ala.
