Buck Owens’ Old House in Bakersfield Is for Sale! [Pictures]
Buck Owens' former home in Bakersfield, Calif., is currently on the market, and as the pictures above show, the country legend was living large in a house that's fit for an icon.
Owens' former property is not necessarily a crazy celebrity mansion, per se, but it is certainly an exceptionally nice home. The 5,106-square-foot residence is listed for $575,000, and the property features a number of top-flight amenities.
The house includes two full bathrooms, two half bathrooms and three bedrooms. One of those bedrooms is a master suite complete with its own sitting area, as well as an office with its own fireplace. The exterior of the property boasts a spacious patio and pool, and also includes a rock waterfall. The house also features complete in-law quarters and a large guest suite, making it an ideal property to host guests. The property is listed via Shelley E. Murphy with Miramar International Inc.

Owens was one of the principal architects of the Bakersfield Sound, a country music movement that sprang from that area of California in the 1950s and '60s as a response to the highly polished Nashville Sound pop-influenced records that were emerging from Nashville at that time. Fusing twangy rock and roll-influenced electric guitars with more aggressive rhythm tracks, the Bakersfield Sound was launched by artists including Owens and Merle Haggard, and its legacy echoes today in the rock influence that has captured a larger and larger share of contemporary country music.
The home once belonging to Owen's Bakersfield contemporary, Merle Haggard, is also currently on the market.
