BRHC to Offer ‘Safe Sitter’ Class
Bothwell Regional Health Center will offer a 'Safe Sitter' babysitting education class from on Saturday, April 22nd.
The class will be in the Bothwell Education Center, located at 600 East 14th Street, from 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
According to a press release from BRHC, the class is designed to teach young teens and preteens how to be better, and safer babysitters. The 'Safe Sitter' curriculum now includes pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation training.
“Students in previous Safe Sitter classes indicated a strong interest in learning CPR to be better-prepared babysitters,” said Melissa Boeschen, community outreach coordinator. “We are pleased to offer the most recent curriculum that includes CPR in this one-day class. We anticipate quickly filling the class with eager students who are ready to be safe babysitters this spring and summer.”
Students in the class will also have the opportunity to learn about injury management and prevention, child-care essentials, behavior management, the business of babysitting, and how to care for a child or infant, who is choking. Course materials are designed for children in 6th - 8th grades. Students must be at least 11 years old to attend. The cost for the class is $35, which includes a messenger bag containing babysitting essentials, but class size is limited.
Preregistration and payment are due by April 10th. Call 660-827-9138 for more information. Printable registration forms are also available here.
