For 11 years, Country Music's Biggest Night, the CMA Awards, was filled with comedy thanks to Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, who served as co-hosts of the awards show from 2008 through 2018. The Country Music Association announced on Monday (Aug. 19) that while Underwood will return to host 2019's CMA Awards ceremony, Paisley won't be with her -- and, quite frankly, the news has us a little nostalgic.

While Paisley and Underwood's one-liners were funny, perhaps the highlights of each year they co-hosted the CMA Awards together were their song parodies. From Kanye West and Kim Kardashian to Taylor Swift and Luke Bryan, no celebrity was off limits when the two started making up lyrics that poked (sometimes irreverent) fun at some of the year's most famous headlines. Still, the country superstars always tired to keep it all in good fun, noting that they worked all year to make sure they got the night right.

“Did we tear the room apart?” Paisley once said they asked themselves. “Did they go nuts? I know that we really want that to be something that, at the end of the year, you point to as something that was something done right. It’s good for country music. I love it when somebody says, ‘You guys did as well as anyone on TV as far as that kind of role.'”

The 2019 CMA Awards are scheduled to air on ABC on Nov. 13, at 8PM ET; the ceremony will take place live at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, with Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton acting as guest co-hosts.
