Blake Shelton, Randy Travis Defend Garth Brooks’ 2017 CMA Awards Lip-Syncing
Garth Brooks' decision to lip-sync during his 2017 CMA Awards performance has been a hotly debated topic, with both fans and artists expressing opinions on both sides of the topic. Among those supporting Brooks are Blake Shelton and Randy Travis.
In the days since the 2017 CMA Awards on Wednesday night (Nov. 8), both Shelton and Travis have tweeted out their support for Brooks, defending his decision to lip-sync on Country Music's Biggest Night. Both artists expressed their love of and respect for the country superstar.
"Hey @garthbrooks ... I still love you," Shelton tweeted on Friday (Nov. 10), just a few hours after his ex-wife, Miranda Lambert, and her boyfriend, Anderson East, slammed Brooks' lip-syncing on social media. Travis later re-tweeted Shelton's tweet and added his own message of support.
"A friend, a man, an artist who gives ALL, always!" Travis writes. "Our family in music should be the 1st to understand."
Brooks won Entertainer of the Year at the 2017 CMA Awards. Backstage, he credited his band and crew with helping him take home the trophy for a second year in a row.
"I’ve got a band and crew that works their dog butts off," Brooks shared. "If you want to know where we’re at right now, we’re in the middle of 12 shows in 10 days. Not 10 shows in 12 days -- 12 shows in 10 days. That band and crew works harder than anybody."
