9/11 Memorials in Sedalia and Mid-Missouri
On the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, several events will be held in the area on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. These events will honor the men and women who lost their lives in the attack and the heroes who served their country in its darkest hour.
UPDATE: Drag Boat Test & Tune Cancelled Due to Stormy Weather at Lucas Oil Speedway
UPDATE: After several boats made Test Session passes on Lake Lucas, rain forced the cancellation of today’s Test and Tune on Lake Lucas. The 2nd Annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals will resume tomorrow as scheduled, weather permitting.

Bridge Burns on South Grand Avenue, Fireworks Believed to Have Ignited the Blaze [PHOTOS]
Last night (June 27), Pettis County Fire Fighters were called to a structure fire at a wooden-decked low water crossing on South Grand Avenue. Firefighters say a large amount of spent firework debris and packaging were found at the bridge, leading them to believe that fireworks ignited the bridge.
Harry J. Young II Arrested in Conection with Double Shooting Incident in April
Sheriff’s deputies have arrested 39-year-old Harry J. Young II on an active warrant stemming from a shooting in Sedalia on April 17.
May Fundraising Raises $13,000 for Show-Me Honor Flight Veterans
Townsquare Media in conjunction with Casey’s General Stores and Sedalia’s new car dealers successfully raised $13,000 in May to support the 2012 Show-Me Honor Flight, which provides veterans a trip to Washington DC to visit war memorials for the wars they served in.

Community Members Pay Tribute to Librarian Lynn Phillips During Funeral Procession [PHOTOS]
The funeral for Lynn Phillips was held at the Celebration Center in Sedalia this morning (May 31). Former students, parents and community members gathered along the east side of Highway 65 to honor the Skyline librarian by holding up children’s books as the procession passed. The tribute was organized by the Sedalia School District.
