Do you have an old car seat in the back room or in the garage? You know the one that's covered with old Cheetos crumbs and juice stains? Here's a chance for you to unload it and save some money on future purchases at Target and Walmart. With it being National Baby Safety Month, the two retailers are giving you chances to trade-in those old car seats.

According to a story from the pennyhoarder.com, this is the fourth year for Target to offer the program. Their event started around the first of the month and continues until September 13. You can bring in all kind of seats, boosters, and you can even turn in the car seat bases.

It doesn't matter if it's expired or damaged, they'll still take it. The old parts will be recycled as they've partnered with Waste Management. For the efforts of your exchange, you'll receive a coupon that will help to take 20% off select baby gear, including strollers and new car seats.

For Walmart it's the first year for this event. It will take place September 16-30 at nearly 4,000 participating stores. For bringing in a used car seat, you'll receive a $30 Walmart gift card. Just a note...the Walmart Neighborhood Grocery Stores will not participate in the event.
