The St. Louis Cardinals Caravan made an appearance at the Fred E. Davis Multipurpose Center on the State Fair Community College campus on Saturday, Jan. 19.

It was the first time the caravan stopped in Sedalia for a few years, and there was an eager, appreciative crowd awaiting the players. Many of the fans were decked out in Cards gear.

Each player spoke and then the program was opened up to a Q and A session from the audience, followed by the opportunity for fans to get autographs from the Cardinals.

Players that attended the St. Louis Cardinals Caravan in Sedalia included Dakota Hudson, Mike Mayer, Chasen Shreve, Andrew Knizner, Joe Magrane, Danny Cox and Harrison Bader.

The event also featured an appearance by the Cardinals' mascot, Fred Bird.

Also, board members of the Boys & Girls Club of West Central Missouri, Inc., volunteered to sell raffle tickets for Cards merchandise at the event, raising more than $1,000.

The Cardinals' 2019 spring training games begin Feb. 23. The Cards play the Marlins on that date.

The Cardinals will open their 2019 season on the road with a four-game series at Milwaukee against division rival Brewers starting on Thursday, March 28, followed by a two-game series at Pittsburgh (April 1 & 3).

The home opener for the Redbirds is set for Thursday, April 4 against the San Diego Padres as part of a seven-game home series with San Diego (April 4, 6-7) and the Los Angeles Dodgers (April 8-11).

The 2019 season will feature 26 home series and 26 road series.

The Cardinals, based out of Busch Stadium in St. Louis most recently won the World Series in 2011, and again in 2006. Overall, the team has won the World Series one dozen times.
