Toby Keith, Zac Brown Band, Jamey Johnson, Darius Rucker and Willie Nelson all have one thing in common: country music (Hey — if there’s something else, we don’t know about it). The country supergroup took the stage halfway through the 2012 CMT Music Awards to perform Nelson’s ‘Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die.’

It was a rare television appearance from Nelson, and the crowd showed him plenty of love before, during and after the smoke-filled performance. He began the song, with Rucker taking the second verse and the others getting their own moment to shine before the song ended. Together, the group harmonized on the chorus, as stars like Luke Bryan and Lady Antebellum‘s Charles Kelley stood up and watched with sly smiles on their faces.

‘Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die’ is a cut from Nelson’s new ‘Heroes’ album. The album cut features Johnson, as well as Kris Kristofferson and rapper Snoop Dogg. The single was made available on iTunes on April 20 and has been a fan favorite since.
