Major League Baseball Opening Day; sunshine, tailgating, hot dogs, beer, and the crack of the bat. We all wish we could take a day off and enjoy the MLB Opening Day, but instead, most of us are stuck at work. Now, former St. Louis Cardinal "The Wizard" Ozzie Smith has partnered with Budweiser to make Major League Baseball's Opening Day a national holiday.

A petition that has been gaining some steam has been launched at whitehouse.gov asking for "national observance" for Major League Baseball's Opening Day. The petition needs 100,000 signatures within 30 days for the administration to give it a "consideration" and to make a response.

Instead of using one of those sick days or possibly risk being caught on a television broadcast like Ferris Bueller, you can enjoy Opening Day as a national holiday. Everyone could use more holidays, and baseball is as American as it gets.

I'm on board, so let's get this petition to 100,000 signatures and get Opening Day to be recognized as a national holiday!
